Chapter 82

Well, here he was, at the start of a new chapter in life. He knew it wasn't going to be easy settling in. For a start, he preferred living alone but now would be living with his mother. For a long time he'd wanted to move away and live in another country and was reasonably happy with the chance the kibbutz had given him to do this. He didn't like the thought that he'd probably spend the rest of his life in England and it certainly wasn't what he wanted, but he'd come to face the fact that it was going to happen. It was no use fighting it.

Two things were at the top of his "To Do" list. First, buy a hi-fi, TV and video. Secondly, arrange driving lessons. Within the first week he'd done both. The hi-fi brought him the most joy. It was good to hear all his CDs through a real system capable of serious volume levels instead of the small portable stereo he'd had on the kibbutz. Yeah, his hi-fi was like a companion. It had balls and really kicked ass.

He took driving lessons and applied for jobs. No luck with jobs but success after seventeen hours of driving the VW Polo, as he passed his test. It'd taken him a long time before getting round to doing it, but finally it was over. One more thing ticked off his list, which was becoming shorter.
