Chapter 66

He thumped the alarm clock with his pillow. It'd been a good night's sleep but had passed too quickly. He looked at the clock. 9am. Time to get up. They were going to Haifa on a small CD buyng excursion and then had to return the car to the agency in Nazareth.
Afterwards, back on the kibbutz, they were now car-less and also feeling a little lighter in the wallet department after buying a dozen discs between them from Piccadilly Records - one of Haifa's best CD shops.

His ex. came round that afternoon for a short visit. She was on her way to her parent's place.
"Where've you guys been? I was round here yesterday but the door was locked."
She looked angry. No, that wasn't it.
"We hired a car and drove down to Eilat. I'm sure I told you were we going." He really was sure he'd mentioned it to her. She looked lost. No, that wasn't it either. Slightly offended. 'Yeh, that's it,' her thought. No. Too strong a word. A bit pissed off maybe? She just seemed over-curious as to why he hadn't been in his room. As though asking him why he hadn't been on the kibbutz when she'd wanted to see him. He didn't feel as though he needed to tell her of his every move. The tone of voice she'd used in her question was the kind in which the other person gets a hint that maybe their presence had been missed.

His friend left the following day. He'd had a good time with him and it wouldn't be long before they saw each other again, this time in England.
