Chapter 39

He was feeling really down and lonely. All his good friends were thousands of miles away. No-one to talk to personally, to get it all off his chest. He was really fucked up, not knowing which way to turn. He didn't want to lose her friendship, but if she was seeing someone else how would he handle being friends with her? They'd both agreed when he first arrived back that they weren't 'together', they'd just see how things worked out. He personally had no idea what the fuck it was that was going on between them. Why question things if all's OK?

Now things weren't going OK. He'd have to ride this out himself. The conversation they'd had some time ago still played itself out in his head.
"I really don't think it'd be a good idea if you ignored or didn't talk to me," she'd said.
There were two ways to think of this - It would be a shame if they didn't talk or see each other anymore, but how many people were there who actually carried on a normal relationship with someone who'd dumped them? He could probably count those on the fingers of one hand. He played it to both extremes, sometimes aloof, other times really friendly.

All in all he was taking the situation very well. He was still keeping everything inside, dealing with it his own way. Raising up the protective shields around himself.
